Number One in Design.
The first challenge in circuit design is to make those electrons dance in just the right way. Once that is accomplished, the challenge becomes the ability to repeat that magic every time.
Much has been made of the distinction between printed circuit and non-printed circuit board amplifier construction. We have built both types and here is what we have learned. We achieve a far greater level of tonal and performance consistency with printed circuit boards. For any given circuit design or chassis size, circuit boards have allowed us to keep noise to a lower level than we could achieve with our hand wired circuits. This method also assures that the tonal integrity is maintained in each unit.
We use only high quality ceramic tube sockets, pots, jacks, and switches, mounted directly to the steel chassis, thus virtually isolating circuit boards from wear and tear.
Our amplifiers are not clones, so we are free to be creative. Part of that creativity is making component enhancements in areas where we can clearly identify a benefit. The four most important transducers in your signal chain are Pickups, Tubes, Audio Transformer and Speakers. We labored over the choices for the three that are provided as part of your Vero. Our transformers are custom built and exceed the performance of those found on mass produced and “knock-off” amplifiers. Part of our desire to do better meant choosing mostly higher quality speakers than you will find standard in other amplifiers.
